BOARD OF DIRECTORS

She most recently served as Executive Director of Academics for Baltimore City Public Schools, following five years as the Executive Director of College and Career Readiness. Before this, she was President of Collegiate Directions, Inc., where she led a team to support first-generation high school students to and through college. Additionally, Rachel has served as a trustee on several boards, including the Baltimore Workforce Development Board, Baltimore City Community College, and the Morehead-Cain Foundation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated as a Morehead Scholar. She lives in Howard County, Maryland, with her husband and two girls.

President

  • Kristen Lavender is an energetic, compassionate and driven leader.  Throughout her distinguished seventeen year career with the National Security Agency, Kristen chartered her own career path. She genuinely believes that the professional development support she received from mentors (as a junior employee) and coaches (after moving into a leadership role) directly correlated with her professional growth. She knows that not all of her colleagues or friends from other non-profit organizations received the benefits of these opportunities. Her personal vision for C4CL is to see coaching and professional development services offered to ALL who are actively trying to further our communities equality and make a difference in our world.

Treasurer

  • Amanda Kim is a communications and marketing professional with a diverse background in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. She is the founder of A|S|K Designs, where she consults on digital marketing and branding for local organizations. Previously, Amanda served as Director of Fundraising & Engagement at The LPC, Communications Director at Grace Community Church, managed global brand communications and crisis management at Under Armour, and Project Manager at Edelman. Passionate about social justice, mental well-being, and global outreach, she actively participates in initiatives supporting racial justice, refugee resettlement, and community development. She is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland.
